Our Wedding Part 6 - The Reception

Ok so it took a while to get back here and finish my posting about the wedding....but here is the conclusion to one of the best days of my life!

After we were announced into the hall, we immediately had our first dance.  Our song was Joshua Raiden featuring Ingrid Michaelson singing Lovely Tonight. Here is a LINK to a youtube of the song.  It is so pretty!

After the first dance, and the parent dances, it was time for the speeches.  They were great! My MOH, Melanie, Sean's BM Chris and my BFF Tori all spoke.  They were sweet, heart-felt and hilarious!

After speeches and dinner - it was time to party! I think the margarita fountain helped everyone cut loose!

At the end of the night we posed for a group shot. How fun!

And still found time to have some stolen kisses!

So much fun! I wish we could do it again (not the planning part though - just the fun party part!)

Our Wedding Part 5 - Pictures before the Reception

So let me just say again before I post any pictures that our photographer Lindsay is AWESOME! She came to the site a few days before the wedding and found this amazing wooded path and field literally steps from the carriage house.  We had NO CLUE it was there!  These few moments in the woods before the reception were amazing! It was nice to have some time alone to catch these amazing shots.  I don't even know what else I can say about these other than...enjoy!

P.S. If you're looking for an awesome photographer, PLEASE do yourself a favor and hire Lindsay MacDonald! Click here to go to her website.

Our Wedding Part 3 - The day of...

I will admit the day of the wedding...I was exhausted! We had worked our tails off the day before decorating and then I was so excited that I got MAYBE 3 hours of sleep.  I looked and acted like a zombie for a good couple of hours that morning.  People kept telling me how calm I was - but I think I was just in a sleep deprived coma.  Thankfully as the day went on I got more and more excited and "with it" if you will.

After breakfast, the girls went to the salon for hair and makeup.  It was lots of fun!

After our beautification - we went to the hall to hang out, get dressed and get ready for the ceremony.  I honestly was very relaxed yet excited that it was almost time! I had a great time those last few moments hanging out with my friends and family as we all got ready!

Meanwhile back at the ranch - Sean was getting ready with the boys.  I don't know the details, but it looks like a bunch of silliness went on!

Isn't he just so handsome?

Our Wedding Part 1 - It all has to start somewhere...

I figured I should write a bit about our wedding on here...so I think this will be a multi-post event. Here it goes....

How did we meet?

As we are both self proclaimed nerds, it's only fitting that we met via the internet. Thank you match.com!

Our first date was at an Afghan restaurant in Baltimore called The Helmand. I was about 5 minutes early and waited at the bar for Sean to arrive. He came in a few minutes later and walked up to me with a big smile on his face and said, "I'm sorry I'm late." I replied with some snarky remark about him being a whole 8 minutes late and not to let it happen again. Sean said that my smarty pants attitude made him instantly at ease. We ended up staying at the restaurant for over 2 hours talking about silly cat stories, work, family, and everything else under the sun. He had me laughing so hard I had tears literally streaming down my face. The rest, as they say, is history. Many dates and MANY laughs later we are here, starting our future together!

This picture is from our 4th date (day trip to Cape May!)

Dating:

I swear, I have never had more fun in my life than I have with Sean. He makes me laugh with his silliness and we never fight. It has been a fantastic ride and I'm so happy I get to spend the rest of my life with him!

Totally soaked after getting rained out of a Jason Mraz concert.

The Proposal:

It couldn't have been more perfect. Last summer we rented a house in Cape May (my absolute favorite place in the world) and a bunch of our friends came to stay with us. It was such a great time! Unfortunately for Sean, with all the people around it was very difficult to get me alone. Finally, we had one day where we would be at the beach for a few hours by ourselves. We were sitting in our beach chairs, enjoying the beautiful weather...and Sean starting being really sweet. He's normally very nice to me, but at this particular moment he was being especially endearing. I remember thinking to myself "this would be the perfect time for him to propose....but there's no way that's going to happen." Little did I know that is exactly what he had on his mind. A few minutes later he pulled a box out of the beach bag and opened it up and asked me to marry him. Unfortunately my first reaction was to say "shut up" about 10 times....and he finally had to ask "does that mean yes?." I said "of course" and hugged and kissed him, and then I proclaimed "we're getting married!!" It was an amazing and truly memorable moment.

He proposed to me right on the beach in Cape May....full circle!

The day we found Oliver's Carriage House where we got married! I mean seriously, do you see why I love this man?

Bird-Themed Table Numbers

Disclaimer: This post was written before the wedding...BUT I didn't want to give anything away to those who actually attended the event.  Therefore, these tidbits have all been saved for posting.  This post was written on April 18th.  Enjoy...

One of the biggest pieces of my wedding vision were the table numbers.  I had been planning these for months and spent countless hours looking for the perfect little birdies and choosing colors for the numbers and what type of moss I wanted.  Biscuit's dad cut the wood bases for us and then it was time to assemble.  I recruited Biscuit and Kris to come over and help - and it was a great time.  We got out our glue guns, bags of moss, packs of birdies and got to crafting.  Here are the results.  I LOVE THEM!

* This part of the post was written after the wedding. This part was written on June 9, 2010.*

I can not tell you how happy I was with how everything turned out! The table numbers MADE the tables, just like I thought they would!  And the flowers and table cloths and everything came together - just how I envisioned it!  YAY! I still don't have the professional photos - but I wanted to start sharing all of the crafts.  I'll be sure to post the highlights of the professional shots when I get them at the end of the month.

Secret Posts

I am starting to write my posts about all the wedding crafts and saving them as drafts.  That way I don't share anything before the big event but still have all the DIY stuff written and documented.  After the honeymoon I'll start posting them so you all can see what fun I had creating the look of our DIY crafty wedding.  I can't wait to share.  It's so hard to keep all these drafts secret and not hitting post - but I promise it'll be worth it!

In the meantime...isn't he handsome?  I can't wait to get married! 5 weeks (squee!)

I suck at blogging

I swear I want to blog more often.  I love finding fun stuff to post and/or do crafty things and share them.  I have been so crazy busy lately with wedding planning and life in general (Sean's brother got married last weekend too!) that I haven't had the time to be inspired.  I am making super cute table numbers this weekend and a cupcake stand and I SO want to share them here....but I think I'm going to wait until after the wedding to show all of my super cute wedding crafts.  I don't want to ruin the suprise by doing it in pieces.  There are so many DIY projects going into our wedding...and I can't wait to share all of my (and T's) hard work with you. There's less than 40 days before the big event.  Here is a list of all the craft projects that still need to be done:

- table numbers
- cupcake stand
- table runners
- finish making my jewelery
- finish bridesmaids presents
- hotel welcome bags
- finish programs
- table assignment cards
- paper poofs
- napkin rings
- picture memory montage
- cake topper
- make 100 cupcakes (eek!)
- a thousand other things I haven't thought of!

I am going to be a busy bride-to-be in the coming weeks! I can't wait until the day is finally here!!
